Signing of Transmission and Distribution System Expansion Project in Cambodia

 On March 9th 2017, the Joint Venture made up of NEWJEC Inc., lead member, the Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. and the Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc. has signed on Phnom Penh City Transmission and Distribution System Expansion Project Phase 2 (I) with Electricité Du Cambodge (EDC) in Cambodia. The Project is aiming at providing stable power supply through expansion of transmission and distribution system in Phnom Penh, the capital of the country. The project is funded by Japanese ODA Loan.

 The country has shown a steady growth in economy in recent years. Accompanying the development, the demand for power has been growing rapidly especially in Phnom Penh and its surrounding area. The Phnom Penh region in particular consists for about 70 percent of the domestic power demand. Ensuring a stable power supply to the area is one of the high priorities for the power sector and it surely contributes to the country's further development. This project will expand the transmission and distribution lines and construction of substations in the region to improve the power supply.

 The project duration is 62 months starting from April of 2017 and experts will provide consulting services such like detailed designs, preparation of bidding documents and construction supervision.

 NEWJEC has been contributing to power sector development in Cambodia providing consulting services for more than a decade, and this project as well further contributes to the stable power supply and development of economy in the country.
