Power Transmission System

line

Power transmission system carries the bulk electric power from power plants to the demand centers in most efficient and reliable manner. Power transmission system consists of power plants, high voltage transmission lines, substations and distribution lines at the customers' end.

230 KV Transmission Line and Substation

Electric power is transmitted in AC (alternative current) in many transmission systems, and also, DC (direct current) is used for longer-distance transmission, which eliminates synchronization problem. The design voltage of electricity in transmission lines ranges from 110 kV to 1,000 kV depending on the system requirement. Substations receive and transmit the power in different voltage through transformers, adjusting to system voltage on upstream and downstream sides, employing switchgears, capacitors and/or reactor equipment.

Effective power transmission system shall be designed by power system analysis, on the basis of present and estimated future power demand. NEWJEC has vast experiences in power system analyses and in transmission line and substation development design, both for AC and DC systems. NEWJEC is also very much familiar with international bidding process to select contractors and supervise the construction works.

Further NEWJEC has several experiences in cross-border power trading arrangements. One of examples is the connection with 220 kV transmission system between EVN (Electricity of Viet Nam) and EDC (Electric Department of Cambodia). This system contributes to transmit the power to Phnom Penh, Cambodian demand center, under a certain PPA (Power Purchase Agreement). NEWJEC was also engaged in power trading between Lao PDR and Vietnam: to receive power generated by Xe Kaman No.3 HEPP (Hydro Electric Power Plant) in Laos, which is under [N1] construction by Vietnamese fund.

At Border of Cambodia and Vietnam(Power Trade for 200 MW)

Tower Erection Work of 500 kv Transmission Line Construction Project in Java-Bali

Description of the Project 500 kV transmission line in the Java-Bali power system spans between Paiton Coal-fired Power Plant at the eastern pa代andSuralaya Coal-fired Power Plant at the western pa比throughseveral 500 kV substations located at the northern part of the island and was known as the North Route of 500 kV system. To anticipate the high demand growth in the Java-Bali power system,it has been planned to develop some large scale power plants in the power system through IPP,but unfortunately,th ose power plants are to be located at the eastern part of the island while the load centers are mainly concentrated in the western part. This phenomena results in the necessity of constructing new double circuit 500 kV transmission lines since the existing 500 kV North Route cannot be relied on evacuating the power from the eastern part to the western part due to the limitation of power transfer capability of the conduct. Besides,a densely populated areas of the North Route cause difficulties of having a right of way for new 500 kV transmission lines and the need of bulk power supply in the near future exists in the southern towns of East Java,Central Java and West Java of the island. For these reasons, PLN has planned to construct another double circuit West East 500 kV transmission line in the power system taking the route of the southern part of the island called the South Route of 500 kV system.
