Our company was established in September 1963 as New Japan Engineering Consultants, Inc. under Kansai Electric Power Company to meet the expectations of the Kansai region's industry, government, and academia for the establishment of an international construction consulting firm in the region. Many of the engineers who worked on the Kurobegawa No. 4 Power Station ("Kuroyon") Construction Project (Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc.), a once-in-a-century project which was completed in that same year, supported the company in its infancy with their indomitable Kuroyon Spirit of co-creation. The company grew rapidly while engaging in surveys, planning, and design and construction supervision for social infrastructure development, mainly for electric power projects both in Japan and abroad. In 1991, we changed our company name to NEWJEC Inc., and have continued to work towards meeting the needs of our customers as a general construction consultant with branches and offices in Japan and overseas under a two-headquarters system based in Osaka and Tokyo.
In recent years, the circumstances surrounding the construction consulting industry have changed dramatically, and we have seen a significant increase in the importance and urgency of the tasks we must undertake: tasks which include measures to strengthen our country's resilience against increasingly severe natural disasters, the early realization of a carbon neutral society, and the introduction of information and communication technology to ensure the efficient design, construction, and maintenance of social infrastructure in an age of declining birthrates and aging populations.
In order to appropriately respond to these social issues, we have made "harmonizing nature and people with technology to build a sustainable and comfortable future" our mission, and strive to carry on as a company worthy of society's trust, delivering safety and security to the world by developing human resources, refining cutting-edge technologies, and making constant efforts to enhance our readiness to respond in the face of change.
